SOFA Studio is looking for Storyboard Artist
Job details: SOFA Studio is looking for a Storyboard Artist to join our team for the new animated feature film.
Essential Job Functions:
•Translate story ideas into visual sequences based on notes and meetings with the Director and other members of the story team
•Work closely with Director, Head of Story, Art Director and other members of the production team to develop the cinematography and staging; choosing initial camera placement and angles; defining action and camera movement
•Convey the essence of story line, scene structure, character emotion and create action and humor in alignment with the overall direction of the film
•Solve story and structure problems -- punch up scenes
- Strong drawing skills with a sense of design, appeal, character acting, and composition
- Understanding of cinematic scene and dramatic structure
- Ability to work collaboratively
•Invents efficient ways in which major script points might unfold, fleshing out rough ideas into full scenes.
•Accountable for delivering storyboard assignments on time and on budget
•Develops characters, story details and optimizes dialog
•Pitches assigned sequences to Director for feedback and approval
•Creates quick thumbnail sketches through to finished detailed storyboard panels.
•Self-managing — organized with good time management. Must be able to identify and meet goals
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS:
• 3+ years experience on Animated Feature Films or Animation series
• Ability to create action and humor expressed through drawing
•Familiar with animation production, drawings can fit the Art style of the film, regardless of Cartoony or realistic styles.
• extremely strong pre-visualization and artistic drawing skills.
• Strong understanding of basic story structure, character development as well as an understanding of staging and use of camera.
• Able to create inventive ideas and stories with a sense of entertainment and humor for multiple types of creative projects.
• Able to work both collaborative and independently.
• Able to visually analyze and translate scripts.
• Able to create quick sketches through to finished storyboard panels.
• Experience with Photoshop is necessary.
• Experience as a on a theatrically-released Feature Animated Film a plus.
• Experience with the Toonboom a plus.
