The framerate in Max 4 decreases dramatically (by about 80%!!) when I make one of the objects semi-transparent.
I messed with the display settings for transparencies; "stipple" doesn't work at all and "blend" works but decreases my FPS to about 10-20 with even low-poly untextured models...
I am running Windows 2000 on a P-III 933MHz machine with 512 Mb RAM, DirectX 8.1, GeForce 4 Ti4200 (64 Mb), Detonator 40.41.
OpenGL and Direct3D give the same results. Framerate without transparencies is about 100 at 1152x864 resolution.
Please help!!
