3DS MAX: Rendering shadows only?

Post reply

Gloski
is it posible in max to make an object invisible but leaving it's shadows still visible? -would be ok if this only occurs in the render
Skubbyl
use shadow/matte material
Gloski
hm sorry about the stupidity, you wouldn't mind being a bit more precise? ;(
Alicci
are you talking about before a render? or render out the shadow layer? you should be able to render difference passes, but not sure how to do that in max
Gloski
what I want is a rendered image with the shadows of a non-rendered object
Alicci
right so you should be able to render a shadow pass and it will render all the shadows without the objects
Skubbyl
just assign the shadow/matte material to the object you just want a shadow from
Gloski
oh, that easy - thx Skubbyl and Alicci
