| subject: Pipeline Technical Director/Liaison , Mainframe Entertainment Inc. Mainframe Entertainment Inc. is looking for Pipeline Technical Director/Liaison Job details: Responsibilities Include: - Oversee the technical requirements of specific VFX productions; work with producers, directors, and VFX supervisors to determine these needs. - Integrate pipeline tools developed at Rainmaker Animation into the VFX production flow. - Develop proprietary scripts/tools for VFX productions. - Assist in the development of television/direct-to-video, and film pipelines - Actively participate in the growth of the Production Technology Department - Provide training/tutorials to production staff - Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge in the relevant fields - Represent the technical achievements and capabilities of Rainmaker. Duties Include: - Design, develop, and maintain proprietary plugins/scripts used in animation production Supervise/coordinate technical support staff, technical animators, and render wranglers - Create and maintain technical effects/shots as directed by the Lighting/Effects team - Collaborate with software developers in fulfilling the needs of current and future productions - Interact with the IT Department with respect to operating, file, and network systems? issues - Provide additional technical support and training to production teams, as needed - Provide web developers with the appropriate internal support pages (documentation, tutorials) - Evaluate and recommend relevant external shaders/plugins/scripts - Interact with commercial vendors with respect to technical issues affecting proprietary shaders, etc - Attend regular production and department meetings - Assist in the development of pipelines for television, direct-to-video, and film - Assist the Manager of Production Technology in strategic planning - Participate, when applicable, in technical support/director candidates? interviews - Maintain contacts with academia/industry to keep current on new research and competitor developments - Read relevant journal/conference/technical articles - Attend industry conferences and seminars - Develop and present lectures/papers for academia/industry as applicable Qualifications Include: - Degree/Diploma Computing Science. - 4+ years production experience - Thorough knowledge of VFX, and digital 3D animation. - Thorough knowledge of Maya. - Thorough knowledge of Python. - Knowledge of Lightwave/Mental Ray/Renderman/Massive/Houdini/Shake/ is an asset. - Thorough knowledge of UNIX/Linux, procedural and object-oriented programming languages,. - Excellent problem solving and communication skills - Must be proactive Thank you in advance for your application!
