Laika Inc. is looking for Technical Instructor duration - Indefinite Job details: Award winning animation studio, LAIKA Inc, based in Portland Oregon and owned by Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike is seeking a Technical Instructor to design and teach technology-focused in-house courses. LAIKA/entertainment is currently in production on several animated feature films including: Neil Gaiman's "Coraline" , written for the screen and directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and The Giant Peach); and "Jack & Ben", written and directed by Jorgen Klubien (Cars, Monsters Inc, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid). The company recently purchased the rights to one of the U.K.'s current best-selling children's novels, writer/illustrator Alan Snow's "Here Be Monsters". LAIKA/house is a dynamic community of filmmakers, designers and animators guided by a legacy of 30 years of animation history. Notorious for its skills in storytelling and character performance, LAIKA/house produces every type of animation in every medium. Principal Duties and Responsibilities * Create and maintain online tutorials * Provide instruction to newly hired and staff production personnel * Attend production related and technical meetings * Develop and implement appropriate information dissemination media * Organize classes, seminars and workshops * Create project plans and report project status and progress weekly * Research, develop and deliver course curriculum Minimum Qualification * B.S. or B.A. in Art, Computer Science, Computer Animation, Engineering or related; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience * 6+ months experience teaching, tutoring and creating documentation for adult learners * 2+ years experience with high-end software such as Renderman, Maya, Lightwave, Shake, Houdini and/or Softimage * 1+ year experience creating and/or designing educational material for the computer graphics industry, (thesis web sites are accepted) * In-depth knowledge and experience with UNIX/LINUX * Knowledge and experience in programming/scripting * Understanding and familiarity with the 3-D and 2-D components of stop motion and/or computer animation production * Proficiency in HTML * Instructional design skills * Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and diplomacy skills * Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate well with others * Proven ability to take direction and perform well within a team environment * Professional, self motivated, focused, and capable of motivating others * Ability to learn quickly * Strong problem-solving and researching skills * Solid typing skills -Note: Please include a Cover Letter along with resume when applying for this position.
