| subject: Texture Artist , LAIKA, Inc. LAIKA, Inc. is looking for Texture Artist Job details: LAIKA/house is currently seeking a Texture Artist to join our commercial division of our growing studio. The Texture Artist paints surface textures on animated characters, props and environments; creates complex and technically challenging Surfacing setups; and writes shader networks. Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of the Supervising Technical Director, Art Director and/or Director establish/follow the look. - Troubleshoot creative and technical issues. - Partnership with the Modeling and Lighting Departments to support each departments needs. - Develop the surface materials and textures for characters and environments. - Meet schedules and deadlines as established by the Producer. Qualifications: - 3+ years of high-end production experience in commercials or feature films as a Texture Artist. - Ability to adapt to a large variety of styles including integration with live-action, 2D, and Stop-Motion elements. - An eye for detail. - Strong working knowledge of Polygonal and Nurbs texturing and UV Layout. - Extensive experience with Maya Shaders and Shader Networks. - Strong Photoshop skills. - Able to work both independently and in team settings. - Experience with 3D paint packages. - Modeling and Lighting Experience. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in advanced surface types, global illumination and subsurfacing scattering. - Strong Renderman and Mental Ray skills. - A working knowledge of Zbrush and/or Body Paint. - A background in the Visual Arts. - Excellent traditional painting skills.
