Job details: Lead Environment Artist-Seattle Mad Doc Software is looking for a Lead Environment Artist to develop a new production team for a very high profile multi-platform title with a major publisher. Candidates must be able to take ownership of and drive all aspects of environment development and production. A portfolio demonstrating exceptional artistic skills in traditional and digital mediums is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help recruit and develop Environment Production Artists.
Lead and direct the efforts of both the internal and external environment creation teams.
Work with the Art Director to help define location, mood, and tone for each environment.
Create and/or direct concept efforts to support the visual direction for each environment.
Help develop schedules with Art Director and Producer and manage environment budgets.
Model, texture and light 3D environments using Unreal Engine 3.
Work with the Art, Design, and Programming teams to create balanced solutions to all related technical and aesthetic issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Traditional Art from a competitive program preferred.
Traditionally skilled artist with an exceptional understanding of composition, color, space, structure, and form.
Strong understanding of various architectural styles and influences.
3+ years of experience modeling and texture mapping content for video games.
Proven industry experience as a Senior Environmental Artist on at least one AAA character-based title.
Expert-level skill in Photoshop.
Expert-level skill in 3D Studio Max or equivalent 3D program.
Exceptionally skilled at creating next-gen textures and a strong understanding of shader networks.
Strong understanding of development issues involved in getting environments into a game and experienced level design and implementation.
Ability to work in a self-directed manner and to make timely, well-thought out decisions.
Strong mentoring skills. Must be able to give constructive evaluation regarding production and performance. Must be able to help others reach their potential.
Possess a sincere desire to collaborate with other disciplines on the team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must speak Art, Design and Dev.
Must be able to create and direct the production of visually stunning environments.
A passion for game development.
Experience with UnrealEd a plus!
