Tri-Dimensional Animation Studios is looking for Animation Production Manager
Starting Date: Immediately , duration - Contract
Job details: Tri-Dimensional Animation Studios Production Managers are responsible for delivering 2D and 3D animated television commercial spots for broadcast, a series of episodes, and architectural and product visualizations on schedule. Her/his primary role is to create the production schedules within the budgetary parameters; ensuring projects get completed on time following contract agreements between studio and clients. S/he partners closely with the Animation Director (or series director) to assemble the crew and manage scheduling expectations and becomes the liaison between sales team and artists and also between artists and clients. The position requires the ability to work directly with clients, troubleshoot problems, oversee productions and actively participate in the organization and the communication of information to the clients, the production team and senior management.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
1) Create production schedule and set the tone for the entire series, from storyboards to offline editorial.
2) Assist Animation Director with defining basic scope/appetite of the production to inform character/set design and script writing and continue to manage complexity as the shows evolve through pipeline
3) Hire and/or define role of production coordinators on the series
4) Establish artistic staffing needs with Animation Director and provide the hiring parameters to recruiting/HR and systems
5) Establish organizational structure of the series including filing system, information distribution, weekly reports, use of client site etc.
6) Main point of contact for the client once the show schedule has been approved and R&D; begins
7) Establish and maintain meeting schedule for series, ensure clients are given ample notice and reminders regarding meetings
Review all beat sheets, outlines, drafts and final scripts
9) Address extraordinary client/broadcaster notes with client or senior management
10) Ensure technology requirements (esp. in house proprietary tools development) are established early in production and regular follow up occurs to ensure timely delivery
11) Organize, with assistance from Animation Director, necessary training for crew
12) Assist with production crew supervision, including post project performance assessments and performance management procedures.
13) Ensure staff have work area and
14) Attend weekly Production Management Meetings to discuss progress and challenges of the show especially head count needs/changes. Also provide brief verbal progress/update report at crew meeting every other week.
Additional related duties may be added as the position and production evolves.
Requirements: Technical Skills
Knowledge of 3D and/or 2D animation pipeline is an all necessary assets.
Artistic Talent
Possess a knack for realistic and achievable scheduling to ensure successful and timely completion of series.
Computer Skills
Drawing Skills
Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word Perfect, Scanning and Resizing Images
Knowledge of MS Project and File Maker Pro would be an asset.
Flash animation experience would be an asset.
Willingness to learn proprietary production tracking software, meeting scheduling software.
Interpersonal/Management Skills
Strong team orientation.
Excellent communication skills (clear, concise, consistent, informative).
Ability to react to changes and new challenges quickly and professionally.
Ability to mentor junior staff (coordinators and PAs).
Ability to juggle multiple shows at one time, at various stages of production.
Ability to work closely with Animation Director to troubleshoot staffing issues, including performance management for poor performers.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of senior animation coordination or minimum of 1 year series animation production management
