Job details: High Fidelity HDTV Inc. is a rapidly growing company at the forefront of High Definition Television production and broadcasting in Canada. High Fidelity HDTV operates two all-HD television channels, Oasis HD and Treasure HD, and is launching two more all-HD channels in the weeks to come. We seek bright and energetic people who want to innovate and prosper with us as we grow. We are now seeking a creative and energetic individual to join our dynamic team as Manager of Technology. You will oversee all technical aspects of our HD program production and broadcast operations, including image gathering, off and on-line workflow, archiving and vault systems, and quality control. You are particularly passionate about image and sound quality, and you know the pros and cons of various HD camera and editing systems available today and promised tomorrow. You are naturally techno-literate because knowing all about the latest HD equipment is what you live and breathe. You will evaluate the options and make detailed recommendations for the design and setup of our new HD camera and audio acquisition systems, off-line and on-line edit suites, and sound suites. You will be involved in the planning and execution of capital investment plans, technical initiatives and ongoing upgrades. You will also find yourself doing hands-on editing using the systems you have designed and implemented, because you are an integral part of the creative process in an organization that prides itself on its open and fun working environment and where everyone pitches in as necessary. This role requires leadership, technical proficiency, innovative thinking and strong organizational skills.
Requirements: Responsibility Areas:
Starting with a fresh slate, evaluate and make recommendations for optimal HD workflow, from camera acquisition to editing to delivery to archive.
Work directly with senior management on capital spending for such systems.
Oversee the acquisition and installation of appropriate technology.
Hands-on work as necessary in installation and operation.
Stay current in terms of new camera and editing and computer-based software technologies in the HD environment.
Develop and implement forward looking procedures for installation, operation and upgrades of HD technology systems.
Maintain High Fidelity HDTV Inc. as industry leader in all facets of HD technology and story-telling.
Required Skills/Experience:
Several years of increasing responsibility in design, specification, installation, maintenance and support of video technology systems, more latterly within an HD environment.
Clear and demonstrated understanding of broadcasting environments and production processes.
Effective track record motivating and managing creative people.
Familiarity with capital budget planning.
Strong familiarity with editing systems in terms of creative, esthetic and technical merits.
Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
Equal ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
Post secondary education required.
Expertise in IT systems management would be considered an asset.
