The newly launched Sierra Online division of Vivendi Games is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to be responsible for building & maintaining a hosted production environment for our online games. In joining you will be ultimately responsible for the design and support of our online infrastructure as we develop new online experiences for the PC, Xbox 360, PS III and Nintendo Wii platforms. A focus on quality is a must with previous experience optimizing and managing systems side of online games. The person we seek should have a strong knowledge of Unix, Windows Server 2000/2003, database servers and networking. In addition, we are looking for a self-starter with strong work ethic to passionately have complete ownership of this area. He/she should be an out-of-box thinker, deploying various innovative methods to tackle complex challenges and find solutions all within budgetary requirements.
Responsibilities:
Installation & deployment of new servers, maintenance of existing servers, and creating a monitoring system for production servers and infrastructure
MSSQL & MySQL database systems administration
Working with MSSQL in a clustered environment - Design of a reliable backup system to support all platforms and critical data including databases
Strong knowledge of hardware platforms and support of testing environments that mirror production for pre-deployment testing
Work on a multi-platform environment including FreeBSD UNIX, Windows 2000/2003 server, some Linux, Solaris, and Cisco/HP networking gear
Requirements:
Proven ability to architect and build production infrastructure
5+ Years of UNIX/Linux Administration and supporting 24/7 production infrastructure
5+ Years supporting MySQL, or MSSQL in a clustered configuration, Windows NT/2000/2003 Server
Experience with SAN and NAS required
Ability to deploy custom applications to staging & production environments
Ability to be on call team to support production
Responsibility for 24x7 support of live, mission-critical, remotely hosted production servers & infrastructure.
General network experience including and in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, and proven ability to architect scalable infrastructure
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds un assisted
Experience installing machines in a collocation facility
Must possess strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills, and the ability to communicate and interact with all members of the technical team
Strong sense of urgency and accountability
Ability to be on call 24/7 as needed
Bachelor's degree in an I.T. field
