Responsibilities / Skills:
Act as liaison between the Art Director and Animators, conveying Art Director ideas and notes and seeing them through to completion, coordinating the review of any and all animation-related ideas and notes to Art Director for final approval.
Participate in or lead Animation meetings, while keeping the meeting on track, with direct intentions and goals. Conduct follow-up animation discussions with subsequent meetings to convey Animation teams thoughts in order to determine if they are plausible.
Animation Coordinator must understand level memory limitations. Other environmental and technical limitations must be understood and solutions should be sought at all phases of production.
Schedule and track rough Animation creation, implementation and maintenance. Support the Art and Design teams to refine all of the above as needed during the production process.
See that general day-to-day maintenance on all animation elements takes place through all of the major production milestones. Maintain a sense of passion, ownership, and the willingness to meet all necessary goals (Q/A testing, bugs, milestones, alpha, beta, final) with the intention of shipping a AAA quality game.
Consistently evaluate the quality and functionality standard for animation assets being created for all of the levels of the game. Communicate any major problem areas, expectations, or desired modifications to the Art Director and Producer and/or any departmental leads, as needed.
Address all issues and facilitate the fixing of animation-related problems within all levels as they arise.
Assist Art Director as needed on facilitating and scheduling animation related tasks from concept to completion, functionality, all things animation related, task prioritization, etc. As needed, act as liaison between Art Director, Animation Leads and Animators, in addition to conducting any needed communication with other groups.
Track and verify that Animators work within the established standards for all level, character, design and effects asset creation within the production path. The Lead Artist/ Art Coordinator must comprehend a working knowledge of the game production pipeline in order to communicate effectively with other team members. Basic knowledge of art systems in order to build levels, create enemies, etc.
Requirements: Communicate thoroughly to insure good working relationships with the Animators, Art Director, other Leads, Producer, Lead Programmer, Designers, Game Director, etc.
Support the animation team during the progression of the project by being a self-reliant Artist/Coordinator and taking the initiative wherever appropriate to make the project more successful.
It is important to possess strong time management skills allowing you to make accurate estimations of task and goals. Scheduling expectations are agreed upon with the Art Director and Producer. Collaborate with Animators to make sure that the animation process is taking place as expected and according to schedule, having a clear understanding of milestones, milestone goals and expectations.
