Job details: Animator Description
The position described is assigned to assist in the art asset development of a project. The position utilizes traditional art training and a knowledge of computer graphics software to produce art and animation for various types of game genres and technical operating platforms. It is an entry-level position.
Work with team leaders and peers to deliver the highest quality art assets possible for the assigned game platform within the technical constraints of the platform.
Develop 2D or 3D art and/or animation in 3DSMAX/Maya, Photoshop and proprietary software, convert to game format and make refinements as directed.
Assist as needed in the generation of additional art assets for the project.
Prepare concept artwork in the form of character sketches, storyboards and level concepts, as needed.
Maintain the art style of the project by working closely with the art lead and lead programmer to successfully execute the game design.
Provide 2D or 3D art assets in the form of 2D sprites, textures or models and adjust art as needed according to technical and client needs.
If 3D develop 3D art in 3DSMAX/Maya software to render out best quality possible to described format with attention to scale of world, polygonal limits and texture mapping.
Obtain work schedule and project plans from either or both the Project Manager and the Lead Artist.
Manage individual work schedule and alerts art lead to any changes in planned schedule or tasks.
Attend project meetings or staff meetings conducted by Project Manager/Group Manager or Executive Team.
Participate in art reviews as required by Project Manager/Group Manager or Executive Team.
Seek out guidance from art lead and other experienced artists to provide the best quality artwork and most efficient methodologies.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Fine Art, Computer Graphics or Animation. Bachelors degree preferred.
Must be willing to work within team environment and accept direction from art lead, project manager and product development.
Experience with 3DSMAX (or related 3D art software package) and Photoshop.
Must be willing to learn to document art process and track tasks throughout game development cycle.
Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
Must have a passion to create the best quality artwork possible for any game genre or platform that is assigned.
