With guidance from Studio leadership, the Training Manger will identify, articulate, and implement a vision for development of training programs that will aid the Studios growth and competitive position, as well as strengthen Studio identity and productivity through adoption of standardized courses supported by Studio-wide mentor/instructor expertise.
Ensure that the training program content and delivery are of consistently high quality, facilitating the sharing of best practices between departments and balancing individual department interests with Studio wide quality imperatives. Manage and report on status of program quality, achievement of outcomes, employee retention, course content, and adequacy of support services.
Develop mentorship program to aid in training and professional development of existing staff. Develop Internship program to identify talent and begin process of training to Studio standards.
Assist recruitment by enhancing Studios appeal and reputation through training and
traveling for recruitment as needed, as a secondary function to the primary task of training initiative within the Studio.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall development, coordination, implementation, administration and maintenance of instructional policies, programs, personnel and facilities as it relates to Training, Mentorships and Internships.
Manage and coordinate the design, development, planning and implementation of training, mentorship and internship programs utilizing the expertise of the division and department heads and other employees within the Studio, as well as external instructors as required.
Help to identify and declare the Laika philosophy as it applies to training in the Studio and assure that the Laika philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Develop and maintain a vision for educational/training growth of the Studio.
In partnership with division and department heads, develop a robust conceptual framework, program and course learning outcomes, and ensure that direct measurement and curriculum mapping is in place throughout the Studio.
Work productively with Division and Department Heads to identify and develop mentors and instructors, and oversee accountability for standards for mentors and instructors.
Effectively and efficiently facilitate training sessions with Studio-based mentors across all departments of the Studio.
Continually improve staff orientation, training and development activities to promote a culture of learning and professional excellence that adheres to Studio identity and philosophy related to training at the Studio.
Oversee the evaluation of all mentors/instructors.
Collaborate with the Division and Department Heads to ensure standardization of training materials, delivery and outcomes.
Analyze course content, effectiveness and usability of programs, interpret instructional media needs and requests, and collaborate with Division and Department Heads in the planning and completion of instructional media elements for individual program courses and quality assurance and make recommendations for improvements or corrective action.
Report regularly to division and department head on project and progress.
Oversee logistical/operational needs of new employees to ensure training and integration into Studio are met at time of hire.
Recruiting visits as needed, where training and recruiting overlap, with the understanding that training is the primary focus of this manager.
Interpersonal Contacts
This position regularly comes into contact; either in person, by telephone or email, with a wide range of people: vendors, clients, talent agents, potential talent/employee candidates, consultants, independent contractors, and all levels of staff within the Studio. Communication is a major focus of this position. The ability to communicate accurately, tactfully and with a sense of competency is required.

Proven success in mentorship, training and/or training project management.
Proven ability to train to defined outcomes and to motivate and/or inspire through training conducted.

Adult learner training/facilitating experience beneficial
Must possess a desire and ability to study, practice and obtain additional knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis to remain well versed in program offerings, recruitment techniques, policies and procedures.
Experience in animation production required.
Ability to provide clarity and support for individuals participating in training, including new employees.
A proactive approach to problem resolution
Integrate Studios mission and ethics into new hires while reaffirming Studios mission and ethics to existing employees
Ability to establish and sustain a goodwill reputation for the Studio within the training and recruiting community
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is required to manage and supervise staff related to project management and, with the knowledge and cooperative consent of department managers, may utilize support staff in other department areas to accomplish goals.
