Job details: Lead Vehicle Artist Concrete Games is a video game development studio located just minutes from the beach in the city of Carlsbad in San Diego County, CA. We are a wholly owned division of THQ Inc., one of the top worldwide video game publishers. We are looking for talented, dedicated people to join us in making next-generation console games.
The Lead Vehicle Artist reporting to the Art Director will be responsible for all aspects of vehicle art, from aesthetics through to in-game functionality working with external art resources. Specifically they will review all in coming vehicle assets, provide feedback to the external resources and make sure that finished vehicles are in game and functional.
The Lead Vehicle Artist must work well with the Art Director and Designers and meet functional and aesthetic goals. The ability to work well under pressure with little direction and meet deadlines is a must.
Preferred Skills:
5+ years of experience in the games industry, with multiple titles shipped
Experience working with external art groups
Exceptional skills at modeling and texturing vehicles at a high level of quality
Must be able to translate conceptual to 3D, collaborating with other team members such as the Lead and Concept Artists
Ability to self manage and demonstrate an awareness of time constraints set by the Lead Artist
Experience working with multi-pass shader effects (diffuse maps, specular maps, bump maps, normal maps, etc.)
Must have good people skills and have the ability to excel in a creative and positive manner with the rest of the team
Excellent knowledge of 3D software, preferably Maya
Excellent knowledge of 2D software such as Photoshop or Painter
Must be able to demonstrate solid traditional art skills
Leadership skills
Arts degree
