Job details: Character Artist Job Summary:
The team behind Ratchet & Clank is looking for a talented Character Artist to bring the multi-million selling franchise to life on Playstation 3. As a character artist, the ideal candidate will work closely with Animation, Design, and Character departments to generate a broad range of characters with memorable personalities and unique style.
Major Responsibilities:
-Model and texture dynamic character materials utilizing both high resolution modeling and advanced shader technique.
-Actively participate in technical and artistic problem solving.
-Identify inefficiencies in the production process and formulate resolutions.
-Maintain an open dialog with related departments ensuring characters meet desired specifications.
-Utilize and contribute to custom tool sets.
Qualifications:
-Bachelors of fine Arts (B.F.A.) in computer graphics, illustration, or fine art preferred from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Expert understanding of high resolution modeling techniques utilizing Maya, Zbrush, or comparable software.
-Expert understanding of form and believable anatomy.
-Advanced understanding of color theory, surface texture, and related shader software.
-Strong understanding of traditional art technique including rhythm, balance, and character pose.
-Ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules.
-Willingness to receive direction and work well with a team.
-Mel scripting experience a plus.
-Experience with creating advanced characters for films or comparable media a plus.
