How do I select elemetns in xsi?

What kind of elemts do you want to select?
Points, edges, polygons?

I mean groups of polygons that are connected.
For example if a car is an object and the weel is a part of it.
But no polygons of the weel is connected to the polygon of the car body.
How do I select the wheel polygons

Just select one wheel polygon and then grow the selection until you select the entire wheel.
Just select a polygon on each element you want to select and then grow the selection

what if the element has thousands of polygons? I will have to grow the selection forever.
