Digital Dimension is looking for 3DS Max Character Animator
Starting Date: Full-Time
Job details: Responsible for the character performance and acting in the film. The Character Animator is instrumental in developing the behavior and personality of the computer generated characters, and reports to the Animation Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Create performance and motion for characters and objects based on storyboard panels and director's vision.
Responsible for lip-sync, body and facial animation.
Work with director and team of animators in keeping characters consistent and shots seamless.
Must be able to handle production deadlines.
Review the pre-vis with the Animation Supervisor to understand meaning, emotion, action, continuity and plot as they relate to character development and storytelling in the assigned sequences or for assigned characters.
Work with Animation Supervisor to define personality, create dynamic and realistic movement of character(s).
Work with modelers/riggers to ensure that characters are equipped with the necessary range of motion for their performance.
Maintain awareness of the characters behavior and motion throughout the assigned sequences to ensure consistency of performance.
Prepare tests of proposed animation to show to the Animation Supervisor and the CG Supervisor for approval.
Confer regularly with the Animation Supervisor to apprise him/her of progress.
Ability to perform visual and analytical problem solving in 3-dimensional space, including the ability to accurately interpret 3D layouts, analyze 3D form and predict potential problems with assigned tasks.
Ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
Provide input regarding tools and interfaces to improve throughput
Requirements: Qualifications and Requirements:
Demo reel demonstrating mastery of the fundamental mechanics of animation.
Bachelors degree in Art, Character Animation, Computer Science, Computer Animation, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent preferred
Must have strong 3D animation experience in character posing and acting. Reels submitted must show character (person or animal) acting, preferably with lip-sync.
Must have a solid understanding of animation principles, weight, timing and posing.
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and take direction well.
Should have good time management skills.
Work primarily with modelers, animation setup TDs, and animation directors to create convincing performances and motion of all types and styles.
Use and understand 3D animation and deformation tools.
Knowledge of 3DS MAX a plus
Ideal candidate should have strong artistic sensibilities in the areas of character movement and storytelling.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Three years experience with a high-end animation system such as Alias, Maya, and/or Softimage.
Production experience with Character Studio.
Must be comfortable using custom character rigs
Three years experience with animation set-up including inverse kinematics techniques.
Three years experience with lip-synching techniques.
