Splash Damage is looking for Technical Artist
duration - Full Time
Job details: Technical Artist Splash Damages Technical Artist will be responsible for technical art features in our games. They will work with special effects, shaders and other technical areas of art production.
Work with the Art Team to define graphics requirements
Work with the Programming Team to create and maintain hardware shaders
Work with the Design Team to ensure graphics requirements meet gameplay requirements
Create special effects using a combination of proprietary tools and commercial packages
Maintain an excellent understanding of the tools and software used in the production of special effects. Ability to use and help develop in-house tools
Identify areas where special effects can enhance the game
Will create visually exciting real time and pre-rendered 2D and 3D effects that follow the established art style
Essential Skills and Experience
Minimum 2 years experience in creating visual effects
Experience with particle systems to simulate effects of explosions, smoke, fire, steam, fog, etc.
Extensive Photoshop experience
Experience with shading languages
Key frame experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
Knowledge of OpenGL and/or DirectX shading and blending
Experience with hardware shading languages (vertex/fragment programs/shaders, Cg, GLSL or equivalents)
Experience with procedural texture use
Experience with visualisation software such as Adobe After Effects
Knowledge of id technologies (esp. Doom3 and/or Quake4)
Experience using Radiant (any version, including DoomEdit)
Knowledge of 3D modelling packages
