Heavy Iron Studios a division of THQ, Inc. is looking for Character Animator
duration - Full Time

Job details: Character Animator Will contribute to the visual content in our next generation console games, specifically in the creation of animated character action and acting performances.

Skills required are as follows:
Thorough understanding of animation fundamentals, including posing, timing and character weight.
Working knowledge of Maya and/or other 3D packages.
Creative vision and passion for console and PC games.
Strong traditional drawing and painting skills are a big plus.

All candidates must submit a demo reel, CD or URL of recent artwork, which must be accompanied by a breakdown specifically describing responsibilities for each shot.

Responsibilities:
Creation of high quality key-framed animation in a broad range of styles, animating a wide variety of characters and environmental objects.
Collaborating with the Art and Design teams to help conceptualize character motions, abilities and personalities.
Creation of compelling animation for real-time cinematic sequences, including both action and dialogue driven acting performances.
Willingness to accept direction and work well under pressure in order to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications:
Proficiency in both stylized and realistic CG animation with strong timing, posing and acting skills.
Proficiency in Maya, preferably 5+ years.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong interest in games, preferably with specific industry experience shipping titles for Playstation 2, PC, Xbox, etc.

PLUSES:
Experience in other animation media, such as stop motion or cel animation.
Passion and knowledge of animation as a culture.
Experience with character and conceptual design.
Experience with modeling, texturing, and/or rigging.
Strong passion for playing and creating games.

Sample Work Required:
All animator applicants must submit the following:
DVD Demo Reel, CD with animations, or several web samples.
Reels must included a shot breakdown with specific explanation of animations submitted, what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.

If available, please include one of each of the following:
A bipedal walk or a run cycle
An example of in-game action or combat animation
An example of character acting with dialogue, preferably at least 10 seconds in length
