Perpetual Entertainment is looking for Senior/Lead Environment Modeler
Starting Date: ASAP , duration - Permanent
Job details: Will work with the Art Produer to establish the look and feel of the project as well as methodology and systems for the creation of environmental assets and technology solutions for look execution and enhancements. You will also manage the world modeling team, environment art contractors, coordinate and make initial approvals of art as it passes through the pipeline you will help to establish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define a comprehensive game environment art creation process for all aspects of production using the appropriate software and tools
Work in conjunction with the project leaders, the programming team, and other artists to establish project wide conventions for environment art
Recognize high level production issues, especially those related to environments
Proactively collaborate in pre-production planning to determine and address technical design requirements and issues
Create documentation and tutorials relating to environment art production issues and methodologies
Assist in the development of shader and lighting technology to enhance environment art production
Work with production APs to create and manage asset lists and art reference guides for contractors and internal artists
Model and texture real-time 3D environments aimed at next generation game consoles
Model and texture additional props for environments
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS
Have a strong understanding of games and game asset creation
Must possess strong leadership skills
Ability to model, texture, and light 3D Environments to a HIGH level of quality
5 + years of applicable industry experience with at least one Lead / Lead Artist role to your credit
Ability to quickly disseminate and communicate pipeline issues and solutions
Fluent knowledge of at least one major 3D package (Maya preferred)
Fluent knowledge of Photoshop, or similar 2D program
Fluent knowledge of texture painting and UV application skills required
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent problem solving skills
Experience with real-time shaders is a plus
Must be willing to work overtime when needed
SAMPLE WORK REQUIRED
Samples of 3D environmental work, (online, CD, or DVD format). Would prefer to see both 3D assets and in-game assets, preferably how the same asset translated from 3D program to game engine. Layers of materials / textures / shaders used and breakdowns of such also recommended.
Samples of construction techniques (modular construction, stretching asset usage and methodologies of reuse)
Samples of texture work, raw textures and examples of texture application (online, CD, or DVD format)
Samples of traditional skills, sketchbook, drawings, paintings, etc.
All samples must be accompanied by a description of each, with specific information on what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.
