Micro Fortι Canberra is looking for a UK or overseas based Lead Artist who has strong artistic and technical skills in all the core art disciplines.
Experience developing artwork for games on PC or console is essential.
The ideal candidate will be a multidisciplinary artist with experience in concept art, animation, modelling and texturing objects and environments with a very strong technical understanding of 3DSMAX5 or higher and an ability to innovate to create the best possible visuals within the constraints of an MMOG game.
The Lead Artist will be involved with the scheduling of art tasks and outsourced artwork pipeline in collaboration with the Art Director and Producer.
The Lead Artist will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with programmers to develop and refine such areas as morphing, rigging, character customisation, lighting from the art perspective, and understand technical issues such as memory budgets, lighting models, normal mapping, shader based pipelines and LOD techniques.
You will be experienced working within these key areas to achieve great visuals within the parameters of the game engine.
The Lead Artist will lead by example and be able to mentor junior artists in creating fantastic visuals within these constraints.
Your work will set the benchmark for both technique and quality for other team members to generate the considerable volume of content from enemies to environments needed for an MMOG.
As part of this role, you will be required to build items, creatures and scenery models within 3DSMAX. As a guide, our character models are around 3000 polys.
Essential Experience:
Extensive 3DSMAX skills.
Strong technical and artistic skills.
Ability to innovate within technical constraints.
Games Industry or Mod Experience.
Character Studio.
A show reel demonstrating low polygon modelling and texturing ability (nothing cartoony please).
Ability to model and texture to a given style and direction.
Photoshop / painter skills.
Enjoys working in a team.
Desirable Experience:
Photorealistic modelling /texturing skills.
Level design and construction.
2D life drawing skills.
Animation skills.
Avid gamer.
