Job details: Specialist Artist A Specialist Artist truly excels at certain content creation skills. His / her main job is to create top quality, to benchmark defining content within their area of expertise. A Specialist Artist has a very strong technical knowledge of their chosen area as well as being able to innovate in this field. Other aspects of the job include helping and tutoring game artists to create higher quality content.

Additional Requirements:

- At least three years of experience in any professional creative field
- Excellent artistic and creative skills and insight
- Excellent personal and professional portfolio showing off their specialty
- Excellent technical knowledge of software and techniques within their field
- Broad computer arts skills encompassing many facets of content creation
- Preferably experienced in different content creation fields (TV, Film, etc)
- Excellent skills within one of the following specialisms: Texturing, Environment, Layout, Special FX, Lighting, Vehicles:

Texture Artist
We are looking for a texture artist with solid experience. The texture artist's job is to dress up all our geometry with a unified look for our projects. He / she is a dedicated, fast worker who requires little instruction and can work autonomously. He / she knows how to make effective use of texture space, texel distribution, UV mapping, etc.

Environment Artist
Environments are the essential part of any game, especially the Next Gen FPS that is Killzone PS3. Our environments will set a new standard of Quality for games. The Environment Artist is a 3D Artist specializing in Environments. This artist has affinity with architecture and environments, and knows the ins and outs level building for games, such as draw distances, culling, portalisation and lighting. The artist will construct environments, set-pieces and props, place buildings and objects, will do set-dressing to make the environment totally realistic, and add dynamic and destructible objects to create interaction. The Environment Artist works in a Level Team together with Level Designers, Lighting Artists and Layout Artists. Knowledge of shading, modeling and texturing is essential.

Layout Artist
The Layout Artist is responsible for laying out the levels together with Level Designers. The Layout Artist adds an artistic eye and thereby checks the level for visual realism and atmosphere. The Layout Artist is the key ingredient to ensure realistic, visually compelling, atmospheric levels with good visual storytelling, and combining this with good gameplay features that are set up by Level Designers. The Layout Artist works in a Level Team together with a Level Designer, Lighting Artists and Environment Artists. He / she is the main artist in the level team.

Special FX / Particle Artist
Our game Killzone PS3 relies heavily on truly excellent, movie quality special effects and particle effects. The effects are the primary means of communicating interaction and dynamics to the player. Examples of effects are particle effects, shader effects, lighting effects such as godrays, water, dynamic cloth animation and much more. The FX department gives life to the environments of the game. We need top quality Special FX / Particle Artists to work towards our vision. Cinematic, Movie or game experience is required, Architectural and Game Level building experiences are a plus.

Lighting Artist
Lighting is a key element of communicating mood and atmosphere. Killzone PS3 uses advanced lighting technology to get very close to cinematic lighting. We are looking for top quality lighting artists that are experts in rendering techniques and lighting setup and that can apply their knowledge on lighting of levels and environments. This includes lightmap rendering, but also placing of dynamic lights, setting up atmospheric lighting models and volumetrics. A good understanding of how light influences emotion and creates interest for the player is required, as well as thorough knowledge of Rendering and Lighting techniques. Lighting Artists work in Level Teams together with Layout Artists, Level Designers and Environment Artists. Game, Potography or Movie experience is required.

Vehicle Artist
A Vehicle Artist is capable of creating a next gen mechanical vehicle from a vehicle design. Affinity with mechanics, vehicles and technology are required. The Vehicle Artist has extensive knowledge of texturing, modeling and shaders. Also, Normal Mapping experience is required. The artist must be able to work on a very high quality level, delivering solid, believable 3D vehicles with a lot of character that really have a presence in the world. We have one spot open for a very good, experienced vehicle modeler interested to raise the bar.
