Namco Networks America Inc. is looking for Mobile Level Designers
duration - Full Time
Job details: Mobile Level Designers Design and build levels for games and downloadable content for mobile applications (cell phones, PDAs, etc.). Place and script entities/objects in environment. Work with the Lead Designer to define and refine gameplay mechanics. Detail gameplay mechanics, storylines, and asset inventories in design documentation. The primary function of Level Designers are to create gameplay situations which are challenging without being overly frustrating, and to make levels and scenarios with replay value and plenty of surprises. Mostly 2D.
Responsibilities:
Gameplay Development
Design levels for gamesincluding the attributes and relative locations of terrain, rooms, objects and characters therein. Play-test for playability, replay value, and fun.
Test for AI, performance, and bugs.
Shape levels to circumvent known issues with game engines, target devices, etc.
Give input on game design issues, and propose ideas.
Work closely with the Lead Designer, Producers, and Artists through all phases of designing and implementing game levels.
Skills:
Familiarity with the iterative process (e.g. design, implement, review and repeat.)
Ability to take direction.
Creativity and innovation.
Problem solving.
Requirements:
Experience designing and refining levels.
Good understanding of 2D level design.
Good writing skills.
Verbal and visual communication of ideas through sketches and other illustrations.
Ability to evaluate gameplayincluding playability, pacing, and fun.
