Secret Level is looking for Lead Animator
duration - Full Time
Job details: Lead Animator Secret Levels Lead Animator will be responsible for managing the animation production and motion design of Golden Axe by setting direction (with the Lead Artist) for the Art Manager and team to follow, and assuring its quality and continuity. The Lead Animator must also be familiar on the latest developments in animation software and techniques and be excited to mentor a staff of Animators.
Area of Focus
Define the animation direction with the Lead Artist and direct the efforts of the animation team over the course of the project.
Establish pipeline and processes for animation team and work with the engineering staff on animation tools and features with the Art Technical Director.
Work with Art Manager to develop animation lists and schedules for the animation team and manage their work over the course of the project.
Work with the design team, dev team and the art team on character design and game play implementation.
Communicate scheduling and resource conflicts with the Art Manager on the project and drive them to resolution.
Direct, create and assist in the production of all animation assets, including rigging.
Review all animation assets and take corrective measures if needed to insure strict technical/visual/animation standards.
Ensure consistent level of quality and adherence to the direction and guidelines set by the Lead Designer and Lead Artist.
Essential Skills and Experience
3+ years of experience on previous video game projects
Significant experience in a leadership role
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a methodical and patient demeanor
Proven animation ability in Maya. Also prefer experience with Motion Builder.
Experience with motion capture data and capture.
Experience with character control systems for game runtime.
University or technical degree in Art preferable
Preferred Skills and Experience
Demonstrated ability in providing art critiques, both visual and verbal.
Demonstrate mastery of a variety of animation styles and techniques using 3D, traditional cell animation, and/or physics driven solutions.
Demonstrates a good understanding of: artistic and technical skills and abilities in character animation, rigging, and cinematics.
