Job details: Next-Gen 3D Environment LEAD Artist Supervise the environment graphic team, ensure the quality of the assets, schedule and assignment of tasks.
Collaborating with tech and art director in development and production for a AAA next gen title.
Ideal Candidates will have 3+ years experience working as a production lead artist in the gaming industry.
All candidates must submit a demo reel, CD or URL of recent work, which must be accompanied by a breakdown sheet specifically describing responsibilities for each sample.
Responsibilities:
Responsible to work directly with the art and tech Director on following and maintaining the games Style Guide and Technical Guidelines in conception, producing and implementing of environment meshes and textures.
Managing other 3D artists , as well as with pre-production and production scheduling and documentation.
Work with the projects Technical Artist to develop an efficient and quality-driven environment development pipeline through research and development. This may include package evaluations as well as tools and script development/documentation.
Work closely with the concept artist to develop environment line as well as fully understand visual intentions before going forward with modeling.
Modeling and texturing of high quality 3D models and associated props based on 2D designs and concepts.
Responsible for testing, implementing and updating environment into the game engine.
Participate in a weekly Artists meeting, to communicate the weekly planning and review work in progress.
Assign, file and fix bugs and enhancement/feature requests.
Ensure the final visual and technical quality of the 3D environments.
Qualifications:
3 years professional graphic arts experience in the videogame industry as a environment lead artist, and at least two shipped games, at least one of which must be for next-generation consoles.
Experience in modeling and texturing realistic environments.
General understanding of technical and artistic environments, especially in multiplatform videogame development.
Knowledgeable in Maya, 3DSMax, or similar tools for high and low poly modeling
Knowledgeable in Photoshop and zbrush
Ability to construct and elaborate on environments based on key reference or concepts
Experienced with managing polygon count and texture budgets
Ability to quickly master tools and development processes.
All-around experience with computer game technologies.
Strong passion for creating immersive, high quality videogames.
Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
Great attention to detail.
Solid Understanding of technology
Experience in managing 3D artists (schedule, quality)
Willingness to accept direction and work well under pressure in order to meet production deadlines.
The ideal candidate will also have:
Experience working on AAA, shipped titles as a Lead environment artist
Experience on Unreal engine
Great experience on shaders and lighting
