Job details: Next-Gen 3D Character Lead Artist Will contribute to the visual content of next generation console games by bringing life, emotion, and visual impact to its next generation high quality 3D characters.

Responsible mentoring and managing Character artists , collaborating with tech and art directors in development of project pipelines, tools and technologies, and participating in the design, development and production for a AAA next gen title.

Ideal Candidates will have 3+ years experience working as a production artist in the gaming industry.

All candidates must submit a demo reel, CD or URL of recent work, which must be accompanied by a breakdown sheet specifically describing responsibilities for each sample.

Responsibilities:

Responsible to work directly with the Animation Director and Art Director on following and maintaining the games Style Guide and Technical Guidelines in conception, producing and implementing of character meshes and textures.
Managing other 3D characters artists and concept artists, as well as with pre-production and production scheduling and documentation.
Responsible for collaborating with the Character Team to derive and maintain an accurate delivery schedule.
Work with the projects Technical Artist to develop an efficient and quality-driven character development pipeline through research and development. This may include package evaluations as well as tools and script development/documentation.
Work closely with the concept artist to develop character line as well as fully understand visual intentions before going forward with modeling.
Modeling and texturing of high quality 3D character models and associated props based on 2D designs and concepts.
Responsible for testing, implementing and updating characters into the game engine.
Participate in a weekly Artists and Animators meeting, to communicate the weekly planning and review work in progress.
Assign, file and fix bugs and enhancement/feature requests.
Ensure the final visual and technical quality of the 3D characters.

Qualifications:

Excellent 3D modeling and texturing skills, including a strong understanding of efficient techniques for game production, with a thorough grasp of the modeling specific requirements for body and facial rigging.
Strong knowledge of human and animal anatomy, with an eye for accurate proportions, form, and details.
3-5 years games and/or film production experience as a character modeler (preferably in Maya).
Familiar with high resolution modeling (Maya/Zbrush), next generation shading and texturing techniques and a high capacity to learn new tools
Knowledgeable in Photoshop
The ability to paint textures as well as use photo-source where applicable.
Great attention to detail.
Solid Understanding of technology
Experience in managing 3D artists (schedule, quality)
Willingness to accept direction and work well under pressure in order to meet production deadlines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong passion for playing and creating games.

The ideal candidate will also have:

Experience in other traditional media, such as sculpting or painting.
Experience with character animation and/or rigging.
