Position Summary:
The Handheld Project Lead is directly responsible for all aspects of game development, from initial concept, through market-place performance, on titles developed for the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS platforms.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Establish clear development direction for the product and manage development to achieve sustainable success beyond the life of a single product launch.
Direct development and creative vision of a designated product to P&L.; Develop and maintain competitive market share in specified interactive category or genre.
Manage Producers and Leads to achieve project goals relative to design, market opportunities, sales objectives and LucasArts business objectives.
Accountable for the creation of a profitable product managed to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Secure final approval for resource and development support through the LucasArts greenlight process.
Foster clear communication and mentor Producers/Leads towards achievement of career ambitions.
Work with Studio Management to ensure that development and resource conflicts are resolved in the best interest of the companys goals and strategic product objectives.
Provide leadership on global market trends, patterns, and customer requirements. Capitalize on this knowledge to foster the development of innovative products.
Contribute to executive studio management through the evolution of studio development methodology, business planning, resource planning, and definition of strategic objectives.
Participate and maintain relationships with top external developers and technology suppliers; may negotiate contracts in conjunction with Business Affairs as appropriate.
Develop and exploit strategic opportunities for the Singapore Studio. Increase the companys value with development efforts that create and sustain studio franchises.
Recruit outstanding talent to LucasArts and retain them.
Conduct yearly Performance Appraisals for all direct reports. Contribute to performance appraisals via Producers and Leads for project resources.
Drives communication between Lucas Singapore and the Executive Staff at LucasArts.
Participate as a contributing member of the senior staff team.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in related fields to interactive entertainment, including AV arts and sciences.
7 years experience in development and management of interactive entertainment.
Produced and/or Directed critically acclaimed and commercially successful titles; responsible for team direction and management through all phases of product development.
Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of game production processes including: management, design, planning, budgeting, staffing, technology, art, audio, localization, and QA.
Confirmed ability to motivate and assist development teams in achieving their goals of predictably meeting uncompromising qualitative standards on schedule.
Experience with and demonstrable success at mentoring and developing project leaders.
Ability to provide informed leadership on both domestic and international market trends and customer requirements.
Effective collaborator with creative contributors.
Vision and aptitude to perform at a strategic level.
Demonstrable flexibility, professionalism, and finesse when handling the multiple and diverse demands of a creative environment.
Exceptional skills as organizer, communicator, manager, and mentor.
