Job details: NTC seeks a Lead Instructional Technology Developer to work collaboratively with Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC), Information Systems and Instructional Technology (ISIT) and instructional staff to design, develop, and create online/hybrid/web enhanced instructional content, and coordinate delivery, revision, and documentation for a variety of degree, continuing education, and certificate programs.
As a member of Middle Leadership, the Instructional Technologist will champion the NTC experience philosophy and function in the role of answer advocate, experience ambassador, and goal guide. This person will portray a broad institutional perspective, which supports the College's mission, vision, and goals while fostering and creating an environment, which strives to anticipate and meet customer needs. A Middle Leader will support a shared leadership culture through participation in and facilitation of teams. In addition, Middle Leaders will live NTC's operating principles of integrity, respect, learning, collaboration, responsibility, and innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate, design, and create online/hybrid/web enhanced instructional content applying instructional design oversight, adult learning theory, and active learning principles in the development process.
2. Coordinate, design, and create engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound interactive online learning activities that meet various learning styles and are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities.
3. Coordinate, design, and create learning objects and multimedia products.
4. Develop and modify classroom and alternative delivery practices with an emphasis on the integration of technology.
5. Assess needs, plan, develop, and implement training and consultation with faculty and programs in the enhancement of teaching and learning in online/hybrid/web enhanced courses and programs.
6. Provide follow-up assistance and support to faculty as they incorporate new technologies into their learning plans.
7.Participate in the online/hybrid/web enhanced curriculum development procedure, including quality and content issues, and adherence to copyright laws.
8. Participate in district-wide decision-making regarding suitable courses and programs to be offered in alternative delivery formats.
9. Assist with instructional technology planning and online learning issues.
10.Investigate new technologies such as streaming media, RSS, weblogs, wikis, and social software.
11. Work with faculty and staff to develop resources and processes that promote online learning.
12. Monitor and manage the Faculty Development technology grant.
13.Partner with the Grants office to seek grant opportunities to support online/hybrid/web enhanced learning growth and quality at NTC.
14. Assist in TLTC budget preparation.
15. Maintain records and reports as requested.
16. Maintain memberships in appropriate professional organizations.
17. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in Education Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely-related field.
Minimum two years experience in designing online instruction and the relevant technologies.
Two years teaching experience (face-to-face and online).
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of active learning, adult learning theories, and principles, practices, and techniques of designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs including online/hybrid/web enhanced courses.
Ability to work with subject matter experts to extract applicable information.
Proven expertise in integrating technology and effective learning techniques into a wide variety of instructional situations.
Proven intermediate to advanced experience with development tools such as Flash, Dreamweaver, or Director.
Proven intermediate to advanced experience with learning management systems and synchronous tools such as Breeze Live.
Working knowledge of JavaScript or Flash scripting highly desirable.
Familiarity with best practices and emerging technologies related to effective online/hybrid/web enhanced learning. Up to date with national trends and issues related to online and distance education.
Basic knowledge of assistive technologies or willingness to learn.
Knowledge of copyright law relating to online and educational products.
Skills in project management and ability to work collaboratively with teams.
