Job details: Senior Character Artist: # 6740 Will contribute to the visual content of next generation console games by designing and creating compelling 3D characters in a variety of visual styles.
All candidates must submit a demo reel, CD or URL of recent artwork, which must be accompanied by a breakdown sheet specifically describing responsibilities for each sample.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with Art, Animation and Design leads to create dynamic character designs in a broad range of styles, developing and visualizing those designs through traditional and digital 2D art.
Modeling and texturing of high quality 3D character models and associated props based on 2D designs and concepts.
Assisting the Art and Animation leads in the supervision of other modelers and concept artists, as well as with pre-production and production scheduling and documentation.
Qualifications:
Excellent 3D modeling and texturing skills, including a strong understanding of efficient techniques for game production, with a thorough grasp of the modeling specific requirements for body and facial rigging.
Strong knowledge of human and animal anatomy, with an eye for accurate proportions, form, and details.
Strong 2D and 3D design and conceptual art skills, in both rough sketch and color studies.
3-5 years games and/or film production experience as a character modeler (preferably in Maya).
Fluent knowledge of at least one major 2D package (Photoshop, Painter, etc.).
Willingness to accept direction and work well under pressure in order to meet production deadlines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong interest in games, preferably with specific industry experience shipping titles for Playstation 2, PC, Xbox, etc.
Pluses:
Experience in other traditional media, such as sculpting or painting.
Experience with character animation and/or rigging.
Strong passion for playing and creating games.
Sample Work Required:
DVD Demo Reel, CD with samples, or several web samples showcasing the artists ability to creatively design and create the human form in both 2D and 3D. Samples must include breakdown sheet with specific explanations of what is being submitted, what you were responsible for, what tools were used, etc.
Please include the following:
Samples of traditional and digital 2D character concept art, including sketches, paintings and color studies.
Renders and turnarounds of 3D character models, both high and low rez, showcasing final renders and wire frame versions. Include samples of texture artwork as well.
Appropriate samples of traditional skills are always welcome, such as sculptures, sketchbooks, paintings
