Job details: Eurocom is one of the world's leading independent games developers and has been around since the early days of console games. We are continuing our search for:

3D Artists (Character Modellers/Texturers):

The role also involves creating UV maps with good layout, use of space and minimal texture distortion, producing normal maps and surface bakes and creating textures to the appropriate style and standard. Previous experience in the games or similar industry is highly desirable, though not essential. An intermediate to advanced level of knowledge using Maya/Max and Photoshop is essential and an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of ZBrush would be a distinct advantage. Applicants should also have a good understanding of underlying mesh construction techniques for joint deformation and facial animation, etc. Knowledge of human and animal anatomy plus cloth and drapery is beneficial.

3D Artists (Environment Artists):
We are looking for a number of environment artists to model, texture and light 3D environments and to model and texture additional props for environments. The ideal candidates will possess 3D modelling skills, including detailed buildings, vehicles, props, weapons, etc. and knowledge of lighting techniques. Applicants must have an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge using Maya/Max and Photoshop. Knowledge of ZBrush and procedural geometry generation packages such as XFrog is desirable, as is knowledge of shader creation and techniques. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong artistic background, though not necessarily academic.

Please note that increasingly on the next generation projects, artists are specialising in particular areas of the process. This means that you may be very talented in just one of the areas mentioned above. If this is the case, please don't be put off applying, we would like to hear from you.

Technical Artist:
We are seeking to appoint a technical artist to sit in a role between the programmers and artists investigating and solving problems of an art-related nature as they arise and working on more technical areas of art production, special effects, scripts and cut scenes. The technical artist will also be charged with investigating new techniques and methods and how they can be applied to a production environment. This role requires previous experience of game environment technical issues such as portalling and level of detail and an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge of Maya/Max and Photoshop. It is desirable for applicants to have knowledge of normal, specular and bump mapping techniques, shaders, CG and other next gen techniques, experience in creating particle systems, special FX and scripts and knowledge of advanced lighting techniques such as global illumination, radiosity and ambient occlusion mapping, as well as a practical knowledge of MEL/MAX Script.
