Job details: Sr Artist Responsibilities:
Use Digital cameras, scanners, Photoshop, Painter, and other image manipulation tools to:
   o Create original and aesthetically pleasing 2D textures.
   o Create textures which tile seamlessly.
   o Create textures from photo source which do not look overworked or artificial
   o Create textures which follow established direction, engine guidelines, and parameters.
   o Create quick and concise 2D breakdowns of photo source or concept art which show how an object might be built in 3D, how many polys it might take, how it might be textured and mapped, how many textures it might take, and how long it might take.
   o Create concept art and style guides which help visualize tasks and assignments to other artists.
Use Maya 5.0 or higher to:
   o Model optimized geometry based on 2D concept art or photo source.
   o Assist and possibly help test titles from other campuses.
   o Utilize automated test tools to test for stress, load and connectivity of titles against servers.
   o Develop new tools to implement online testing methodology.
Use Photoshop, Painter, Maya and traditional tools and techniques to:
   o Create proof of concept artwork for proposed 3D assets.
   o Create 2D level layouts and designs based on design documents and written descriptions.
   o Create 3D mockups based on those 2D designs which illustrate the scale and scope of the work to be done.
Conceptualize and create a 2D plan for a game world based on written design descriptions.
Be responsible for combining disparate parts and pieces into a visually unified world, including organic and inorganic terrain, objects, architectural elements, particles, sky and horizon elements, lighting, and gameplay elements.
Combine and use the 3D work of other artists, providing feedback and training where necessary.
May be responsible for helping to design and implement an entire aspect of the game: interface, animation system, or character system, for instance.

Skills:
Reading and comprehension skills in order to fully understand complex process description documents, design documents, and written assignments.
Use Photoshop 5x or higher to manipulate photo source and create realistic, tilable, textures.
Use Maya 5.0 or higher to create and texture optimized mesh for use in objects, terrain, and other game assets.
Able to take 2D concept art or photo source and create a plan for converting to 3D mesh and 2D texture.
Able to manage and track large amounts of data as they go through the art pipeline: with minute attention to naming conventions, directory structures, rigid processes.
Able to write up short, clear documents which explain various art processes.
Able to supervise, train, tutor, and mentor one or more artists. Able to plan and schedule their assignments, and track their work to completion. Able to help assess their needs for growth and learning. Able to document, report, and help review their work.
