Job Summary
Responsible for the creation of dynamic, eye-catching, and innovative front-end and in-game graphics for our current generation console games (PS2, X-Box), upcoming next-generation console games (PS3, X-Box 360), and company internet and intranet projects. Will help shape the direction of the company-wide graphical interfaces, in games and elsewhere. Will assist in the UI design and will create art assets for all projects in development. Will work closely with the Technology Department to facilitate the implementation of all aspects of the game graphical interface. Will help to bring artistic vision and passion to the User Interface look-and-feel, to propel the style and quality of game art and the end-user experience.

Job Responsibilities:
Help support pre-production efforts by assisting in the establishment of the UI design direction, through artwork and/or written design descriptions
Provide concept art based on written descriptions from the Art Director and/or Lead Artist
Create animated mock-ups of UI layout and functionality for evaluation and the establishment of overall UI design direction
Work closely with the Technology Department and individual UI programmers.
Learn and help improve the production pipelines for existing tools and export processes.
Help establish new production pipelines, during the creation and implementation of new, next-generation console UI tools
Work to given deadlines and schedules, established by the project Leads. Provide input and information for the establishing and detailing of those schedules
Actively participate in team and/or department meetings
Actively seek review and input from the Leads and other team members
Work in a dynamic team environment where individual effort is critical to the completed project
Produce a weekly report listing your Accomplishments & Objectives every Monday morning to your immediate supervisor
Assist Associate/Standard members of staff with guidance on particular techniques, tools, processes and/or best practices as required
Temporarily buddy-up with a newly hired Associate/Standard member of staff (in the same department and project) to assist with their smooth integration into the project and company
Report issues or concerns regarding the attitude and/or performance of colleagues should they arise to your immediate supervisor and/or Producer


Job Requirements:
Applicable BFA in Art related field (Graphic Design, Web Design, etc.).
Minimum 2 years of experience, creating 2D and/or 3D artwork for video games.
Minimum 2 years of experience, primarily focusing on the creation of User Interface artwork for video games.
Strong traditional art skills in drawing and graphic design/layout, with an understanding of color theory and industrial design.
Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes.
Ability to create art assets of consistent high quality.
Ability to work successfully in a large team of other artists, programmers, and game designers.
Proactive approach in problem solving with other team members.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
Strong work ethic, self-direction and artistic vision, dedicated work ethic.
Ability to multi-task under pressure, potentially working on simultaneous projects, interfacing with multiple teams.
Strong technical aptitude.
Exposure to and passion for playing many types of video games. Forward-thinking interest in the look of AAA video game titles. Ability to reference cutting-edge game titles, to dissect their UI graphics usage, and to apply that inspiration to new ideas in personal work.

Skills:
(Candidate must have) Excellent practical knowledge of all 2D game development tools (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.).
(Preferred, if candidate has) Good practical knowledge of 2D web-design tools (Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Director, SWiSH, etc.).
(Preferred, if candidate has) Good practical knowledge of video compositing software (Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas, Autodesk Combustion, etc.).
(Bonus, if candidate has) Good working knowledge of 3D game development tools (Maya/Alias, 3D Studio Max, etc.).
(Bonus, if candidate has) Interest and experience with animation concepts and techniques.
(Bonus, if candidate has) Experience with programming or scripting languages.

Sample Work Required:
Samples of relevant work demonstrating previous User Interface experience and knowledge (Shell and in-game HUD) delivered as online content links or in CD, VHS, or DVD format.
Samples of traditional skills, sketchbook, drawings, paintings, etc.
All samples must be accompanied by a description of each, with specific information on what you were responsible for, what elements were personally designed and/or created, what tools were used, etc.
