Job details: The Media Arts & Animation Department of the Art Institute of Portland is looking for an Adjunct Instructor for a class in Advanced 3D Organic Modeling. Applicants should have the following skills:
In-depth knowledge of Maya, particularly as relates to modeling, patch modeling, nurbs, polygons and sub-d?s.
Students of the class will design and produce advanced models using high-end 3-D computer animation technology. Emphasis is on applying foundation modeling concepts and computer skills to the creation of characters and environments.
In this course, students will:
1) Produce complex three dimensional objects using spline based techniques.
2) Become proficient with nurb modeling and sub-d modeling
3) Become aware of the different tools required for patch modeling
4) Students will become proficient with translating ideas for characters and environments from paper to 3d
5) Become aware of practical modeling techniques taking into consideration render time and texture maps and how to approach modeling a character or set
By the conclusion of this course the student will have a full character ready to be animated and rigged, and a complete grasp of modeling styles for creating not only characters but props and environments as well.
