Intelligent Creatures is looking for 2D Technical Director

Job details: Intelligent Creatures, a leading Feature Film Post-Production Company in Toronto is looking for a 2D Technical Director. Having worked on such films as "The Fountain" and "Babel", and with further high end Feature work coming up, this could be the opportunity for you.
The 2D TD provides in-house technical support to artists and writes software to improve workflow and provide film-specific functionality for 2D department including animation and lighting. They will work with the production team to develop scripts and techniques to solve specific research and development problems. They will also write production-specific scripts/macros/programs/plug-ins to support compositing and integration into the production pipeline. This person maintains and supports the material created, has a high level of technical and problem solving skills, is an expert in technical issues in Fusion, is able to quickly move into other software packages, is creative as an animator or compositor, and can support the creatively talented, but technically challenged.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with creative and technical leads and artists to develop compositing, painting, rotoscoping, designing, and tracking tools, as needed for the production of feature film effects.
- Ensure that the result functions in accordance with specifications, including, where applicable, performance, user interface, aesthetics, and robustness.
- Review and modify the result, if necessary, with the Visual Effects Supervisor and/or technical lead.
- Maintain and enhance completed results.
- Provide technical support to users.
- Produce documentation for tools and techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years experience in film or television effects production in a TD role.
- Thorough knowledge of both 2D and 3D computer graphics techniques.
- Strong programming skills in the Windows environment are required.
- Excellent working knowledge of Fusion and Fusion scripting (or Lua) required.
- Education in computer science, mathematics, physics, architecture, or engineering is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure.
- Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
- UNIX/LINUX operating system experience a plus.
- C/C++ programming experience and/or a scripting language such as Lua, Tcl, Shell, Python, or Perl an asset.
- Experience with SQL databases.
