Job details: Award winning animation studio, LAIKA Inc, based in Portland Oregon and owned by Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike is seeking a Recruiting Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the recruitment process.
LAIKA/entertainment is currently in production on several animated feature films including: Neil Gaiman's "Coraline", written for the screen and directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and The Giant Peach); and "Jack & Ben", written and directed by Jorgen Klubien (Cars, Monsters Inc, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid). The company recently purchased the rights to one of the U.K.'s current best-selling children's novels, writer/illustrator Alan Snow's "Here Be Monsters". LAIKA/house is a dynamic community of filmmakers, designers and animators guided by a legacy of 30 years of animation history. Notorious for its skills in storytelling and character performance, LAIKA/house produces every type of animation in every medium.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Manages the Recruiting Function at LAIKA:
* Provide leadership to Studio for all Recruiting-related issues.
* Sets recruiting goals, manages budget and works with the recruiting team to ensure a successful (supportive & collaborative) working relationship with Managers, Producers and the Executive Team
* Oversee College Recruiting & Internship program
* Establish and conduct workforce planning including strategies to keep key talent.
* Provide leadership by developing recruitment objectives and sourcing strategies.
* Design, develop, implement and communicate online recruiting tools.
* Establish and/or improve employment processes and procedures.
* Ensure policies and practices are in place to comply with government regulations. Establish EEO/Affirmative Action plans.
* Train and/or coach direct staff and hiring managers on effective recruiting and interviewing techniques and hiring practices.
* Develop a local and industry network through job fairs and participation in community and industry specific activities.
* Build positive internal client relationships through understanding of the operations and needs of the business. Collaborate to achieve efficient and cost effective recruiting.
* Formulate internal service level agreements and metrics.
* Establish and manage relationships with external staffing vendors.
* Works closely with HR to establish hiring, fringe benefit and relocation guidelines, policy and administration.
* Act as recruiter as needed to support fluctuations in the demand for staffing services.
* Liaise with HR Departments to ensure seamless delivery of services.
* Directly manage recruitment staff.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
* 5+ years experience as a recruiter (knowledge of computer graphics, art, and/or production process.
* 1-2 years experience in a direct supervisory capacity.
* Prior recruiting and management experience with provide ability to effectively manage the recruiting process, recruiting team and relationships with executives and hiring managers (including directors and producers)
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Strong time management, follow-up and organizational skills.
* Trained and experienced in multiple interviewing techniques.
* Demonstrated negotiation skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others of various backgrounds and levels.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Abilities and Knowledge
* Experience working in the entertainment industry (knowledge of computer graphics, art, and/or production process).
* Knowledge of applicant tracking systems, online applicant systems, database searching and reporting related to reporting recruiting statistics
