Job details: Blue Omega is a different kind of studio looking for a different kind of individual who is talented, energetic and wants to break new ground. We are actively seeking a Lead Animator who is able to produce quality animation and has the ability to collaborate with other dedicated developers. We are looking for someone with passion, and the skills to back it up, whether new to the game industry, or a veteran with years in the trenches.

Blue Omega is a team of creative professionals dedicated to amazing, unique, and entertaining experiences that leave people wanting more. Focused on original IP and developing only for Next-Gen platforms, our team develops the core game concepts/prototype and then teams up with the best companies in the business to make those concepts a reality.

Responsibilities:

As Lead Animator for Blue Omega you would be involved in all aspects of the production from the initial design of character movement and technical considerations of implementation to collaboration with other art teams and the creation of final animation. While most animation will be focused on 5,000 ? 20,000 poly characters for use in a real-time game environment; you will also be required animate facial expressions, world objects, and work with High Resolution Models to be used in pre-rendered sequences.

Requirements:

? Excellent understanding of animation principles such as weight and timing, specifically related to realistic human and non-human movement as well as the ability to understand and produce the motion required by the game design.

? Strong understanding of technical procedures of advanced rigging and skinning real-time characters as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues.

? Professional experience animating real-time low-poly objects and characters in 3D Studio Max using both Max Bones and Character Studio.

? Self-driven, with a desire for perfection, while still understanding production needs.

? Effective team and individual communication skills with the ability to take direction, as well as provide it to other animators.

? The ability to research and answer technical questions from other artists with respect to animation techniques or systems being used.

? Passionate about film, video games, and animation.

? Willing to relocate if currently living outside of Baltimore, MD or Washington DC area.

? Current authorization to work in USA.

Preferred:

? 2 years professional animation experience in film, TV, or the gaming industry.

? Strong traditional art background.

? Skills in 3D modeling, texturing and/or lighting.

? Expertise in Max scripting would be advantageous but not essential.

? Experience with procedural animation, including cloth simulation, dynamics, and particle-based systems a benefit

? Experience with motion capture data is beneficial but not required.

? Experience with Unreal Engine.
