Job details: Blue Omega is a different kind of studio looking for a different kind of individual who is talented, energetic and wants to break new ground. We are actively seeking a Level Designer / Assistant Game Designer who is able to produce exciting and immerse levels while collaborating with other members of the team to enhance the overall quality of the game design. We are looking for someone with passion, and the skills to back it up, whether new to the game industry, or a veteran with years in the trenches.
Blue Omega is a team of creative professionals dedicated to amazing, unique, and entertaining experiences that leave people wanting more. Focused on original IP and developing only for Next-Gen platforms, our team develops the core game concepts/prototype and then teams up with the best companies in the business to make those concepts a reality.
Responsibilities:
As part of the Blue Omega team you will work closely with other artists, game designers and programmers to create exciting, visually compelling, immerse, single player and multiplayer levels. You will assist in shaping all aspects of the game from deciding on core features to the creation of final gameplay by aiding in the writing and maintenance of game design docs, the creation of levels, the implementation of gameplay scenarios, scripting of events and tuning of gameplay.
Requirements:
? Shows a strong aptitude for understanding the major elements of game design including: story, dialog, interface, character interaction, mission /environment design, look and feel, AI, combat, game-flow, balance and difficulty,
? Has the ability to productively analyze and discuss ideas in a wide variety of aesthetic areas (art, sound, voice, story, gameplay etc.)
? Can actively recommend and implement positive changes to the game based on feedback from QA, Consumer/End-User insights, and others.
? Can collaborate with other team members to reach practical design compromises and adjustments in gameplay that ensure that the project is a viable and successful product.
? Has the ability to help conceptualize and maintain detailed game design documentation throughout the project cycle.
? Can create and implement superior gameplay levels, encounters and experiences.
? Has the ability to take direction, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team.
? Can implement level functionality including sounds, music, effects, scripting, etc.
? Able to assist in writing required documents including, but not limited to: design documents, concept/sales documents, flow charts of game and menu systems, outlines of all major art, sound, and programming requirements.
? Must remain current on industry trends and techniques in game design.
? Passionate about film and video games
? Must be willing to relocate if currently living outside of Baltimore, MD or Washington DC area.
? Has current authorization to work in USA.
Preferred:
Traditional Liberal or Visual Arts background.
Working knowledge of UE3 and related technical skills, such as some background in use of game editors, scripting (Unreal 3 Kismet) /programming and/or 3D tools a strong plus.
This is a full time (in-house), salaried position with discretionary bonuses and a full benefits package.
