Softimage Xsi: a quesion about Detection Threshold! help!

there days i learn about Toon shader


i found Detection Threshold parameter.

i have read the help about this parameter.

and try to adjust this parameter value from 0 to 1

but i still dont find any change in the render region!


can you tell me how to use it?
