Responsibilities:
- You will design, as well as create - from concept, next-gen 3D game environments using Maya. Work with Design, Concept and Animation Art disciplines to ensure the consistency and quality of real-time game environments.
- Collaborate with the Producer, Game Director, and Art Director, as well as all other disciplines, on defining the visual styles found within game environments.
- Advanced Maya and Photoshop skills are required.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate a superior understanding of creating AAA-quality 2D and 3D art.
- You must possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Qualified individual must have an extensive fine art background and a strong understanding of the basic elements, principles and practices of form, of color and design in two and three dimensions.
- You can work in a wide range of artistic styles, and can maintain the appropriate style over the course of the project. As well, you must possess the skills to design/create from verbal descriptions, while meeting the demands of the nex-gen console.
- A strong comprehension of architecture and landscapes is crucial.
- Must understand and be able to execute varying forms of level building (i.e., collision development, model creation, lighting, environment and texture FX, sky dome creation, level optimization, and basic world animation).
- Expert level texture painting and UV application skills required.
Qualifications:
- Managing the responsibility of developing the most complex environments in the game.
- Have a strong understanding of games and game level design. Knowledge of console or PC game platform limitations should be excellent. Be capable of creating gameplay collision/sheets for entire levels based upon rough designer sheets or paper maps.
- Must possess strong leadership skills in order to effectively delegate tasks to junior members of the environment art team.
- Combining ideas and methodology of environment production to create an efficient and streamlined pipeline that other Environment Artists can follow.
- Strong technical art skills required for creating optimized levels (i.e., understanding of next-gen memory/poly/texture limitations, efficiency in building collision, comprehension of building streaming/loading levels, character and level lighting, etc.).
