Communications Department
POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor of Communications. Full-time (nine month) tenure track position. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate required. Demonstrated excellence as a generalist with experience and ability to teach in two of the three areas: Digital Media, Theater, and Advertising/Public Relations. The candidate will coordinate Advertising/Public Relations program, and must be able to teach in both graduate and undergraduate programs. The candidate will also advise students across the department's programs in an interdisciplinary instructional environment.and must also be committed to the integration of the Advertising/Public Relations track with the department's other programs. Candidate will be expected to participate in grant writing activities.
APPOINTMENT BEGINS: August 2007.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Communication Department offers bachelors and masters degrees focusing on Advertising/Public Relations, Digital Media, or Theater. The department includes an award winning radio station, television station, 1100 seat main stage theatre, black box theatre and editing suites. The department is active and visible in the University community and works closely with schools, performing arts organizations and individual artists in the surrounding community; fostering extra-departmental relationships both within the undergraduate and graduate programs as well as in connection with several outreach programs.
THE UNIVERSITY: Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 2 hours west of New York City and 2 hours northwest of Philadelphia, Marywood University is an independent, comprehensive, Catholic University. The Communication Department resides within the Insalaco College of Creative Arts and Management which provides graduate and undergraduate degrees in Music, Art, Communication Arts and Business. Marywood was founded in the spirit of dedicated service and sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, PA.
