Job details: POSITION: Associate, Industry Programs, Media Center and International Council, at the Museum of Television & Radio (MTR)25 West 52 Street, New York, New YorkFax: 212.621.6623   OVERVIEW: The MTR Media Center, a private membership organization launched in 2002, seeks an Associate of Industry Programs. This position will coordinate writing and programming projects through all stages of completion, including planning industry events and writing and editing Media Center publications. The Media Center brings together the top executives and leading thinkers in the global media industry to discuss a wide range of critical issues that define the media and its role in society in a period of drastic change.  It has developed a leadership role for thoughtful analysis of critical issues related to the media and its associated businesses. The Center manages an average of forty annual events at the Museum’s New York City and Los Angeles locations, including breakfasts, luncheons, half-day seminars, panel discussions, and other activities. The International Council, the Media Center’s annual global media conference, brings together senior level media executives from around the world to discuss the increasing globalization of the industry and the opportunities and challenges this carries. Past meetings have been held in Beijing, London, Paris, and Istanbul, among others. Visit the MTR Media Center website (http://www.mtrmediacenter.org/) to read more on recent programs. REPORTS TO:  Vice President and Executive Director, MTR Media Center and International Council RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Programming: (working with Director of Industry Programs)


- Develop Media Center programs, including researching and booking  featured speakers, panelists, and other participants for the various Media Center series;

- Create and edit original content and programming, pre and post Media Center events, including white paper summaries of dialogue discussions and video clips of featured programming to post to our member website;

- Produce a quarterly Media Center newsletter, which highlights and explores industry trends and reports key findings of Media Center programs;

- Manage and maintain the Media Center website, including writing and publishing program recaps and promotional material on upcoming events and posting event photos and highlight clips of recent programs;

- Write and edit program proposals and related correspondence;

- Work with Museum’s curators to select clips from the archives to compliment or contribute to Media Center programs;

- Follow industry trades and current events and maintain database with “revolving door” updates (new titles, companies, etc.) of media players;

- Write speeches for the Museum’s president, Board members, and others for Media Center programs, as well as the International Council conference.

- Event management:

- Coordinate internally and externally on venue scheduling, technical, and publication needs;

- Manage Media Center assistant and interns;

- Onsite logistical management at all Media Center events and assistance at annual International Council conference;

- Coordinate all Media Center event photography.

- Membership relations:

- Work with Media Center team on creating annual brochure;

- Work with Media Center team on membership outreach and renewal efforts.

 REQUIREMENTS:

- College degree and at least two years of experience in journalism or media-related industry;

- Excellent phone manner and writing skills necessary;

- Must have a keen editor’s eye;

- Must be extremely detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated;

- Continual attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines;

- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels (up to CEO), both internally and externally;

- Ability to work at a fast pace under pressure;

- Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook);

- Willingness to learn proprietary database;

- Availability for some early morning events and willingness to work late when necessary.
