Job details:
Position: Technical Artist
The Technical Artist will focus on specification, implementation, and maintenance of key production pipeline components and provide generalist support to all disciplines. This position requires detailed knowledge of Maya architecture and would provide on-going Maya support with particular focus on shader development and hardware rendering. Working closely with the project leads and directly with the teams, the Technical Artist will develop both temporary and long term pipeline solutions.
Responsibilities:
Maya .MEL scripting ability in the following areas:
- Hardware shading and rendering.
- Ability to create scripted tools that assist artists in pipeline workflow.
- Workflow enhancements.
- Creation of detailed specs for development team.
- Documentation of production processes - Maya tasks in particular.
- Asset management.
- Scene cleanup.
- Provide sample data & Interfaces.
- Rapid development of Short Term solutions.
- Provide assistance with long term pipeline solutions.
- Training and support to users and create training materials.
- Consulting on & creation of User Interfaces for Core Technology Group Tools.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- 2-3+ years as technical artist in gaming or related industry.
- Very knowledgeable of current Next-Gen art pipelines.
- General knowledge of shaders.
- Demonstrable skill in the visual arts.
- Demonstrated skill with Maya and MEL. Some Knowledge of Maya’s API would be a bonus.
- Knowledge of PYTHON.
- Highly developed sense of aesthetics.
- Art background preferred.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience in cross-platform development, but not mandatory.
- Passion for playing games.
