Summary of Position:
The Director, Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for cultivating a culture of inclusion for Disney Media Networks, a division of The Walt Disney Company, by developing, implementing and managing global workforce diversity strategies.
The Director embodies the spirit of diversity and inclusion and educates and inspires business leaders and employees towards a culture of respecting differences. The Director will manage a team while working closely with other diversity and business leaders across the company to ensure initiatives, resources and tools are effectively leveraged to drive business results and to assure diversity values are integrated into daily operations. This position reports into the VP of Human Resources.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
· Set the direction, manage, and coordinate the workforce diversity strategies and initiatives / programs for the Media Networks businesses
· Ensure diversity considerations are included in Media Networks business strategies, employment brand and communications, and human resources practices and policies (i.e., integrated into recruitment practices, learning and development programs, communications, and measurement)
· Leverage best practices relevant to workplace inclusion and workforce diversity (i.e., initiatives, programs, industry and workforce trends) to enhance diversity initiatives and to provide advice and council to leadership
· Build strong relationships with external organizations that enhance company’s relationship with the local communities, provide opportunities to recruit diverse candidates, and to market Media Network’s commitment to building a diverse workforce
· Continuously improve the tracking, measurement and reporting on diversity initiatives and programs, and make recommendations based on analyses of the data
· Lead the AAP processes and procedures for creating reports, metrics and development of action plans
Minimum Requirements:
We are seeking a Diversity Professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience leading teams to achieve strategic objectives and will have demonstrated the following qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Communications, Organization Development or related field
· 2 years experience with Equal Employment Opportunity regulation and guidelines and experience creating one or more Affirmative Action Plans
· Ability to form positive relationships that enhance personal and business success and ability to lead and influence at all levels within the organization
· Passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion that is results oriented
· Ability to translate knowledge and strategy into organized plans
· Ability to grasp complex subjects quickly and develop effective solutions
· Strong analytical skills, business planning, and project management skills
· Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
· Proven experience making presentations to senior leadership and external community organizations
· Collaborates effectively with others to identify and resolve issues
· Exhibits a personal responsibility and commitment to his/her work
· Personally reflects the values of diversity
Desired Qualifications:·
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, or Business Administration
· Preference will be given to candidates with previous Broadcast, Cable or News experience or proven experience working in a creative environment
· Proven strong background in public speaking
