POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the director of network operations, the studio operations manager is responsible for the daily operations management of the network’s studio based programming including, Red Sox and Bruins pre-game shows and all news content. This position will be responsible for managing the evening studio operations staff and for covering the evening hours and one weekend night.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage studio operations staff including studio directors, technical directors, graphics operators, studio camera operators and stage managers - to include managing performance, mentoring and development of skills.
- Assist the director of network operations with development and management of capital budgets and justifications. Partner with the director of network operations, Finance department, and others, to develop budgets, track costs, provide pre-estimates and post-estimates for studio based programming.
- Evaluate current practices/standards, introduce and implement improved practices/standards.
- Oversee and ensure studio procedures and policies are consistent and working towards maximizing studio enhancements.
- Oversee lighting and jib camera operations.
- Work with the executive producer, production staff and the technical operations manager to identify studio support needs and schedule personnel and studios and control rooms appropriately.
- As part of the operations management team, work closely with technical operations manager and post-production operations manager and participate in weekly management meetings.
- Keep knowledge and skills current regarding broadcast technologies and techniques and incorporate into studio productions
- Identify and make recommendations on new production technologies
· Other related tasks and projects as needed
Education:
BA or equivalent required
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years related television operations management experience
- Solid experience managing a staff including performance management and career development
- Solid experience enhancing, enforcing and implementing studio procedures and policies
- Good experience leading studio productions and overseeing lighting and jib camera operation
- Solid knowledge of all aspects of high definition studio production including cameras, Duet Hyper-X, EVS and server clip playback and Sony MVS8000 HD switcher.
- Must be a self-starter with strong leadership skills
- Solid track record of performing well in a fast-paced, loosely structured environment
· Good attention to detail and solid communication and interpersonal skills
· Knowledge of professional sports including New England sports (a plus)
· Strong computer skills and working knowledge of all technical studio production roles
· Ability to regularly work nights and weekends, and holidays as needed
· Experience with ScheduAll facilities scheduling software a plus
