POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinating Producer is responsible for the conceptual planning, coordination and creative execution of all NESN produced news productions. The qualified candidate is responsible for creative and effective assignment, management and coordination of on-air talent/commentators, and production personnel, including producers, associate producers and production assistants. Direct financial budget development, management and responsibility for all news productions including, but not limited to, NESN SportsDesk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establishes editorial direction of programs and oversees all content in all News productions
· Direct management and project management responsibility for production staff - producers, associate producers, feature producers, production assistants, assignment editors and talent – to include performance management, mentorship and career development, and team building
· Establishes production assignment schedules, production meetings, on-camera production time, pre-production schedules, and post-production schedules
· Works closely with the Executive Producer to ensure that overall production adheres to conceived format and procedural guidelines.
· Responsible for the necessary production judgments and for overseeing pre and post-production video tape editing of pre-recorded programs.
· Partners with Operations to identify and communicate operational needs/resources and ensure operational needs/resources are met.
· Work with the Director of Creative Services to identify and communicate productions’ graphic needs.
· Organizes and manages meetings and conference calls related to programs, as required.
· Gathers information and materials needed for the production of programs and arranges for delivery of such information to appropriate personnel
· Completes other projects and performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience required.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years experience in live event or news production and technical operations is necessary.
· Extensive management and project management experience and skills are required.
· Experience with production budgets is helpful.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills required.
· Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment across various departments.
· A demonstrated ability work under limited supervision in a high pressure environment is essential.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary.
· The ability to operate studio and remote production equipment is required. Full knowledge of production equipment and inner workings of production facilities.
· Experience with linear and non-linear editing equipment is preferred.
- Solid track record of successfully working in a fast paced, loosely structured environment that is growing and changing
- Must be a self-starter
