Are you an experienced technical writer who enjoys the challenge of helping customers use technical products more effectively and with less frustration? Are you excited about the potential of new technology? Do you know GIS or have an interest in learning more about mapping? Would you like to work on a dynamic, award-winning team? If so, this may be the job for you. The Technical Publications team in the Autodesk Geospatial Business Unit is looking for an experienced technical writer to develop end-user content to assist GIS professionals use our innovative geospatial products. These include Topobase, MapGuide, Raster Design, and exciting, new initiatives in the Geospatial community. As a Technical Writer, you will plan and write online Help, interactive tutorials, and other forms of content for our products. You will work closely with a strong team of writers, software developers,QA, designers and product managers. In fact, you will be a member of a global team, with members in North America, Europe, and China. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, a drive to produce high-quality content, GIS experience, a flair for graphics, an ability to learn technical products and processes quickly, and the flexibility to meet demanding schedules.
Qualifications:
* B.A., B.S., or graduate degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism or related field
* Three or more years of technical writing experience
* Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of, or experience with GIS concepts and GIS software products
* Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and processes quickly
* Skill for designing and creating meaningful graphics
* Interest in understanding customer needs in order to produce documentation that really helps
Desirable:
* Familiarity with content management systems
* Proficiency with Framemaker (preferably Structured FrameMaker)
* Familiarity with Flash and Photoshop
