Job details:
LAIKA is seeking a Compositing Supervisor to join our growing studio.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Using the lighting and compositing tools in support of the visual style and narrative of the film.
Supervise other artists in the use of lighting and compositing tools which support the visual style and narrative of the film
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform and supervise technical and artistic work as part of the shot finaling team to define or support the appearance of elements within the scene.
Supervise and educate other shot finaling artists and TD’s in the use of the technology, best practices, procedures and work-flows.
Manage and maintain the quality of inventory both into and out of the shot finaling department.
Proactively seek new technologies, techniques, and processes that will benefit the shot finaling department.
Able to work independently using the tools and within the technical guidelines of the film, under supervision of the HOD and the Visual Effects Supervisor.
Submit work for HOD, Supervisor and Director review and ultimate approval.
Work with the documentation and training groups to develop source materials.
Troubleshoot production problems, and proactively work to minimize their impact.
Able to work efficiently and independently under deadline pressure and still maintain a high quality of work.
Must be able to take direction positively and work well within a team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum level of skills, experience and abilities.
5+ years of Feature Film (CG) experience
Strong communication skills
Bachelors degree or equivalent education/experience
A demonstrated knowledge of UNIX, ability to troubleshoot technical problems and familiarity with scripting is required
Experience working with SHAKE, Maya, MTOR, prman or equivalents
A demonstration reel showing a strong sense of composition, light, and color is required.
Experience scripting in Perl or Python
