Apple's Mobile Hardware team is seeking a enthusiastic senior hardware electrical engineer interested in developing electrical & system design product architecture & integration of current and future generation Macintosh notebook computers. The candidate will work closely with and coordinate cross-functional HW, Mechanical & SW Architecture teams along with System Design, Quality, and Regulatory compliance teams to define and design approaches & solutions for the electrical, mechanical, and firmware design of mobile systems. Having broad expertise & unique knowledge, the candidates will use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

This role will allow the candidate to work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. The candidate will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Candidate will act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Candidates may supervise and mentor the activities of others.

The ideal applicant will have previously lead the electrical systems development of a product. Familiarity with some or all of the following elements is also highly desirable: computer system architecture and notebook feature trends, electrical simulation and design tools, PCB layout using high speed digital design rules co-located with analog systems, EMI & RF design best practices & methods, thermal/ power delivery & power management control systems, and have some software design and development capabilities for developing diagnostics, utilities, scripts.

Duties include researching industry trends, assessing product feasibility, creating product architecture documentation, guiding PCB/EMC design, PCB & system floor-planning, participating in and/or driving cross-functional design reviews, prototyping, debugging, test plan creation & execution, functional verification, signal characterization, manufacturing support, reviewing vendor capability to support product development, and inspiring & mentoring junior engineers.

Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills required. Experience shipping products into mass production prefered. International travel may be required.

BSEE with 4-8+ years related work experience or MSEE with 2-4+ years related work experience.
