Job details: The National Professional Services Engineering team has an opening for a technical position that contributes strategically and tactically to the Integration Services line of business. This position requires the technical competencies to manage the fee-based delivery of services, provide server solution strategies nationwide and mentors third party providers delivering Apples technical services. This position also requires establishing respect, trust, and a rapport with customers, providers and the account sales team to successfully perform against goals.
The Technical Services Consultant position is part of a delivery organization and is specifically responsible for implementation architecture, installation, configuration and integration of Mac OS X clients, Xserves and Xserve RAID, wireless infrastructure implementation, configuration and use of remote management tools, directory services configuration on various platforms, security configuration, software imaging and media workflow solutions.
A excellent knowledge of Apple's product line, including architecture, troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues related to effective implementation of Apple technology, defining solutions, hardware, software, peripherals and services, assessment of customers infrastructure, deploying Mac OS X Server system monitoring tools, Unix command line, database design, application deployment, digital media content creation and delivery technologies are primary responsibilities.
An ideal candidate will be hard working, positive, team-oriented, resourceful, and have the ability, desire and motivation to learn. The candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to establish respect, trust, and a rapport with customers, and providers.
This position requires the technical competencies to deliver a wide variety of Integration Services engagements, including but not limited to:
-- Design and delivery of Mac-centic System Architecture plans, including hardware, software, and services specifications and time-sequenced deployment plans.
-- Delivery of "Proof of Concept" and pilot deployments to support increased platform adoption in competitive accounts.
-- Deployment of Mac OS X Server and Xsan into heterogeneous environments, most notably Microsoft Active Directory and Novell eDirectory-centric infrastructures.
-- Creation of Mac OS X system images for wide-scale deployment into heterogeneous environments, including creation and documentation of custom scripts and development of custom installation packages.
-- Development and delivery of technical bulletins to team members and partners on emerging issues.
-- Development and delivery of "How To" documentation for commonly delivered services.
This position will require flexible hours and travel throughout the US. The candidate will be required to carry a cell phone, and have remote high speed Internet access from home.
Candidate may be required to submit to a criminal background check and must receive clearances as a condition of employment.
Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications:
-- Minimum BS with 5+ years professional experience deploying Mac OS X Server and/or Xsan.
-- 3+ years experience with client and server integration with one or more of the following directory systems: OpenLDAP, Novell eDirectory, or Microsoft Active Directory
-- 3+ years of scripting/development experience at or above the System Administrator level with one or more of the following tools: PackageMaker, AppleScript, AppleScript Studio, Cocoa, perl, ruby, python, or UNIX shell.
-- Past professional experience with Apple Remote Desktop, Microsoft SMS, LANDesk, or other remote patch management and/or software deployment tools strongly recommended
-- ACSA 10.4 certification and Xsan 1.x certification or an ability to obtain within 90 days as a condition of employment;
-- Outstanding communication skills, especially via telephone, e-mail, and video-conferencing.
