Job details: Serve as a primary technical design resource for global telephony projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress and results. Influences work of cross-functional teams.
Familiar with and capable of designing highly robust voice systems including traditional Time Division Multiplex and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Familiar with operational capabilities of telephony systems, including systems from major vendors such as Avaya, Nortel, Cisco, and others. Familiar with Digital Signal Processing, voices codecs (G711/G729), telephony signally (ISDN PRI/H323/SIP) and telephony protocols.
Assist with voice access design to include Sonet designs, DS-3 multiplexer configuration, and digital access and cross connect operation and configuration. Works with other department to include cost effective and highly reliable services for voice services is include in all access design plans for Apple sites. Capable of designing and leading the implementation of large-scale projects (i.e. new PBX installations, new converged technology integration) employing sound industry approved methodologies.
Capable of analyzing business telephony needs and making technical recommendations to meet the needs in a cost effective manner. Serves as technical telephony design specialist as a member of cross functional technical teams. Ensure designs fits in to the global GNCS architecture, is technically sound, and the best value from a business perspective.
Helps develop and validate telephony metrics relative to requirements and usage, analyze data and recommend actions to continuously improve systems and processes
Serves as the primary interface on new vendor telephony products and technologies. Provides engineering/analytical solutions for domestic and international implementation planning, and support of Apple sites as required. Participates in the development and validation of solutions for the IS&T Capital/Expense budgetary process to ensure adequate funding is available as needed for new and future projects.
Design and support implementation of large-scale projects (i.e. new PBX installations, new converged technology integration) employing sound industry approved methodologies. Must have a solid understanding of converged technologies (i.e. Voice over IP) from both conceptual and practical experience.
Must have strong troubleshooting abilities.
Good organizational, time management, and service delivery skills is required.
Must be able to work in a fast paced work environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities is required.
Ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as, independently.
Avaya PBX and Cisco networking platforms and associated equipment are preferred. Contact Center infrastructure experience is a plus to include support of Call Management Systems, Voice Mail, and Interactive Voice Response experience.
Requires BS degree in computer science or information management with 5+ years or MS degree with 3+ years experience, or equivalent. Ability to lead global project teams including proven project management experience.
